Saskatchewan Outback KCRA Rodeo Committee
A dedicated group of volunteers came together to organize a KCRA rodeo at the Carrot River Valley Sports Grounds in the Rural Municipality of Moose Range near the community of Carrot River. The town, Rural Municipality and the branding committee are excited and very supportive of the event and it has become the signature event to support the Carrot River brand “Saskatchewan’s Outback”. Thanks to the Town of Carrot River, Rural Municipality of Moose Range and the Carrot River Board of Trade’s sponsorship commitment, the event is known as the “Saskatchewan’s Outback KCRA Rodeo”. The rodeo committee is legally structured as a registered non-profit organization.
THE VISION
The vision of the committee is to have the Saskatchewan’s Outback KCRA Rodeo secure enough sponsorship and people (both contestants and spectators) that it is a profitable event that can support future maintenance and enhancements of the rodeo/sports grounds required to support the youth and community in Northeast Saskatchewan. The Carrot River Valley Sports Grounds was used in the past for similar type events but was not used for several years until the local 4H club started maintaining and utilizing a portion of the grounds for 4H and equestrian related events. There are plans in place to continue to enhance the grounds further and this event will assist in securing the funds required to implement those plans.
2018 KCRA Rodeo of the Year!! 2018 Saskatchewan’s Outback Community Event of the Year!!! Tourism Saskatchewan Finalist Awards of Excellence Event of the Year (2018)!!!
Our very first rodeo in 2018 was voted KCRA Rodeo of the Year by the contestants and membership of the KCRA. We were also the recipients of the Saskatchewan’s Outback Community Event of the Year (2018) and were a finalist for the Tourism Saskatchewan Community Event of the Year (2018). We are honored that our first rodeo was such a rousing success. We plan to organize another great weekend for 2023. July 15 & 16 weekend will include other events that will support visitation to the community for the entire weekend. Friday evening will be set up and pulling in for competitors, vendors and activities for Saturday and Sunday . The rodeo itself will include all rodeo events, rodeo clown entertainment, plus mid rodeo entertainment. Several food services, beer gardens and a live band cabaret Saturday night round out the activities. Saturday being a family day with extra activities for the young rodeo enthusiasts (sheep riding competition is one). With these activities running throughout the weekend, the committee is committed to promoting the weekend to not only attract local residents but also tourists from further away. Our mission is to host a professional and well-planned event that will provide a safe and entertaining family oriented KCRA rodeo for the contestants and spectators that will foster the rodeo lifestyle within the youth and their families of Northeast Saskatchewan and will support the “Saskatchewan’s Outback” brand.”
